Captions
Captions for your top nine 2026
A recap caption has one job: explain the choice in a line. Grouped by tone, here are openers that work with the grid instead of repeating it.
Wry
- “Nine posts, one metric, no regrets.”
- “The algorithm has opinions about my year.”
- “I ranked my year so you don’t have to.”
Warm
- “That was a year — these are the nine I keep.”
- “Nine posts that carried the year.”
- “Little year, loud memories.”
Analytical
- “Ranked by saves, not likes. The list is different — and more honest.”
- “Top nine by comments: the posts that started something.”
- “What the numbers picked, and what I would have picked.”
Short
- “2026, in nine.”
- “Saved the best nine.”
- “Nine frames, one year.”
How to write the one you actually use
- Name the metric. A caption that says “by saves” explains the card in three words.
- Admit one surprise. “I didn’t expect this one in the nine” is the most readable sentence in any recap.
- Stop. Two lines maximum — the grid is the story.
Length by format
Story: one line, large type. Feed: two lines plus the metric. Anything longer belongs in the comments.
Should I explain the ranking?
Yes, briefly. Naming the metric turns a pretty grid into a coherent post.
Is it okay to post the same caption every year?
The format can repeat; the sentence should not. One specific detail per year keeps it readable.
